A Tamil B-Girl from India?
When DJs put two turntables together to loop the breaks back to back, it began to enabled kids to get innovating, known as “breaking.” These local B-Boys and B-Girls carry on that tradition of innovation.
Oh Yes, you are right! A B-Girl thorough research. While doing just that, we came across a young Tamil talent from Chennai, Ranjitha who goes by the stage name B-Girl RA. She is one of the few female break-dancers from the Southside making waves in the Hip Hop scene. At the age of 14 is when she started discovering this new form of dance. Travelling to Delhi, Mumbai and other parts of India to participate in different battles & performances. Recently RA has been crowned as the 1st runner up for TIMES 4 VIBES BATTLE 1on1 category at Trichy.
As passionate as this girl is, she also runs her Dance workshop at United Grooves Dance based in “Anna Nagar” Chennai. The studio was launched last year October, teaching different dance forms and courses. Recently, they have been invited to represent INDIA in the WOD WORLD FINALS, 2017 in Los Angeles, California. On the other hand as her part time profession, she also conducts classes specifically in break-dance for United Grooves as a guest choreographer to make up small savings for her .
People still believe women belong in the kitchen but this girl is a real inspiration to others whom are breaking their boundaries. Throughout history, women have fought courageously and tirelessly to assert themselves as individuals and experts in their field, something most men have had the luxury. You may get some push back initially, but if you remain consistent and fair, attitudes will eventually change.
