Dr. Dre Recommends Artists Stick to One Producer per Album
Dr. Dre believes musicians should work with only one producer on their albums, instead of several. During a conversation with Snoop Dogg on the Stephen A. Smith show, the legendary producer, known for collaborating with many artists throughout his career, shared his thoughts. “I like the idea of one producer on an album,” Dre said.
“If you’re a producer you should be able to produce the whole album.
“That’s what I thought it was supposed to be,” he continued. “I don’t like the fact that there’s nine different producers on one album.”
In their conversation, Dr. Dre admitted he hasn’t revisited his past music, saying, “I’ve never listened to any of the music that I’ve done.” He added that it would be fun to look back and see his musical growth.
Dre and Snoop also discussed their lifelong friendship, which inspired their new Gin & Juice brand. Snoop said, “Look at where we’re at in our careers… And we still love each other. So why not do something together?” He highlighted how rare long-lasting friendships are, especially in business. Dre agreed, stating they’re “better together” and compared their partnership to iconic duos like Keith Richards and Mick Jagger.
