In an interview, Willow Smith discussed being the daughter of Hollywood stars Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, admitting to having had a lot of privilege. While this label has motivated her, she doesn’t view it as suitable for her.

“I definitely think that a little bit of insecurity has driven me harder because people do think that the only reason I’m successful is because of my parents,” Smith mentioned in the interview. “That has driven me to work really hard to try to prove them wrong.”

She emphasized that she no longer feels the need to prove anything to anyone and believes she would still be the person she is today even without famous parents.

“I truly believe that my spirit is a strong spirit and that, even if my parents weren’t who they were, I would still be a weirdo and a crazy thinker,” she said.

Smith also pointed out that there are layers of privilege, highlighting her experiences as a Black woman in America, where people have made negative assumptions about her or treated her poorly because of her race. “We all know that privilege doesn’t exempt you from anything.”
