In 2028, Dr. Dre hopes to be an established fixture at the Los Angeles Games.

After a highly successful Summer Olympic Games in Paris, officials passed the flag to Los Angeles. The City of Angels will host the event in 2028, promising a star-studded affair. Long Beach native Snoop Dogg, who served as a correspondent during the last two Games, will likely seize this homecoming opportunity. His partner-in-crime, Dr. Dre, shares the same enthusiasm. Dre and Snoop performed at a special Venice Beach event to celebrate the handoff. Dre confirms he will be in Los Angeles in four years and plans to perform at the opening ceremony. However, he surprised fans by telling Nischelle Turner of Entertainment Tonight that he plans to try out for Olympic competition.

In the interview, Dre shared that he wants to try out for the 2028 Olympics. When Turner asked which sport caught his interest, he gave a surprising answer: “Archery,” he said. “I’m deadass serious.” Dre confessed that he’s been passionate about archery for most of his life. He told Turner that he was on his junior high school’s archery team. Although he took a break when his music career took off, he picked up the sport again after his son bought him equipment for Father’s Day.

Dre said, “I set it up in my backyard and heard that you need to qualify for the Olympics at 77 feet. I practice at 90.” If Dre makes it to the 2028 Summer Olympics, he will be one of the oldest athletes to compete. He will be 63 years old in Los Angeles. The oldest athlete at the 2024 Paris Games was Spanish equestrian Juan Antonio Jiménez Cobo.

Besides dreaming about the Olympics, Dre has had an awesome year. He and Snoop Dogg are teaming up on “Missionary,” the sequel to Snoop’s debut album “Doggystyle.” Dre even showed up at Kendrick Lamar’s “The Pop Out” concert, jamming to “California Love” and hyping up “Not Like Us,” which Lamar played five times. Dre’s really excited for the Los Angeles Olympic Games, and getting to compete in front of his hometown would be an unforgettable experience.
